Context

The North Area is bounded by the Town of Chino Valley to the north, the City of Prescott Valley to the east; and unincorporated area of Williamson Valley to the west. The City of Prescott borders the area to the south. Bisected by State Routes 89 and 89A, the area is a gateway to Chino Valley and Interstate 40, connecting Prescott to Las Vegas (4.5 hours west) and Los Angeles (7 hours west). Embry Riddle Aeronautics University (ERAU) is on the south edge of North Prescott, and its students rely on the Prescott Municipal Airport for flight training. In addition to supporting ERAU, Prescott Municipal Airport supports a growing industrial base and is a regional transportation hub, serving serving tourists, business, and commuter traffic throughout the region. Granite Creek Wash runs the length of the Prescott North Planning Area on the east side of the Airport, and Bottleneck Wash is located in the lower third of the planning area on the west side of the Airport.
